Hemoralopia
Hemoralopia in Standard Poodles is the severe inability to see
during normal daylight. The affected pups, however, can see in the
evening light and indoors where there is dim light, although with
reduced vision. Onset appears to be at approximately 5-8 weeks of
age and the first symptoms are the pups running into objects they
obviously should see.
The severity of the disease can be measured by a test called an ERG
(electroretinography) which shows the retinal function.
The following pages will give you in-depth information into this
disease and how the University is finding a marker for DNA to test
for this disease.
Hemoralopia is in both Solid and Parti Poodles.
